Kayla’s Favorite NYC Black-Owned Businesses
Let’s celebrate Black History Month by supporting these local black-owned businesses!
Everyone loves to support small businesses, but it’s very important to make an effort to support Black-owned businesses as well. Did you know, according to NYC.Gov, Black individuals only own 2% of NYC businesses and Black-owned businesses are less likely to survive after five years compared to others?
Below are some of my personal favorites, but Secret NYC has a larger list separated by borough! Check it out HERE.
Accounting Services - Nicole Tyler with Tyler & Martin CPAs
I recently hired Nicole to handle my taxes and create a budget/financial plan, and I’m upset I didn’t go to her sooner! She is patient, intelligent, and loves to see her clients achieve their financials goals.
Art Gallery - Nicola Vassell Gallery
If you love strolling through art galleries, make sure to stop by the Nicola Vassell Gallery in West Chelsea! This gallery showcases contemporary art and highlights international artists.
Candles - Paige’s Candles Co.
I’m a sucker for candles! Paige’s Candles is a candle company creating handmade candles using vegan soy wax and essential oils. Great news is there are multiple locations, and you can order online!

Pie Shop - Little Pie Company
My go-to spot for pies! They’re large pies, so I would grab one for holidays and/or housewarming parties so you can share.

Stress Management/Life Coach - Will Wright
Will created the I AM Self-ish movement and it’s incredible! By empowering freedom of choice, Will helps you break out of survival mode, regain control, and start living your best life every day.
